Quinoa Bread
Empanadas

Food, Places and Friends! Often I associate a certain meal, a special pastry or specific kind of bread with a place and friends. Food especially in association with a smell sends me right back to moments long ago. The taste of Croissants takes me back to the Atlantic Coast of France for summer family vacations; Brezen, “German Pretzels” right to my parents kitchen table; sweet, small Mangoes to the coast of Mexico and empanadas back to my friend Wendy’s mom, “Mama Donna” at Cristinas Cafe in Virginia. Mama Donna was the one who taught me how to make empanadas and we made hundreds of them together. It is such a joy to prepare food with friends and family. When that moment is gone the smells and taste of those meals can still take us right back to those wonderful times. What are some of your associations with places and food?
