Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!! I hope it is a holiday filled with fabulous food, friends and family! Thanksgiving is one of the holidays I did not grow up with but have had no trouble adopting since it seems to be all about food (and a few other things…) Over the years I have spent Thanksgiving in so many different places, with different families and friends. My very first Thanksgiving I almost missed dinner since I had no idea that this was the busiest day to travel especially on a bus trying to get from D.C. to NYC… That same year I learned about Black Friday, being warned by my aunt that it will be very busy in Manhattan that day, but thinking how many more people can you fit on those busy streets anyways, wow was I surprised when I got off the subway to head to the MoMA on 5th avenue! I didn't want to leave the quiet of the museum ever again. Since that first year 16 years ago, I have avoided being anywhere near a store on Black Friday! 
I also associate Thanksgiving with the start of my baking adventure. In the fall of 2011 I spent my first months “professionally” baking at my friends cafe in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. It was an amazing experience and we made almost 100 pies that year, cooked multiple turkeys, a goose, more side dishes than I can recount, ate, laughed and enjoyed the company of family and friends! That year was the pinnacle of sharing what you have with your friends and neighbors and being so grateful for where baking had taken me. Thank you all for being part of this baking journey of mine now many years later in a completely different part of the country!
