Do you ever think about Seeds? And where the worlds seeds are stored and how in the last century 94% of the worlds seeds varieties have disappeared? Most of us just take it for granted that food is grown and we don’t spend a lot of time thinking about the details or the little seeds that are the beginning of every plant. Most countries have their own seed banks and there is even a global seed vault on the island of Spitsbergen in Norway as a back up for global crises called the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. This Sunday December 4th you have the chance to learn more about Seeds. The Bozeman Doc Series presents Seed: The Untold Story at the Emerson at 7pm. Here is a description of the movie: “As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.” The LA Times review said this: “This is a gorgeously made film, put together with as much care as it’s subjects devote to saving the remaining varieties of seeds.” Really looking forward to learning more about Seeds since I work with them so closely grinding them into flour and baking bread from it.
