Moving week has arrived and you know what the part is I like about moving (if that is even possible)? It is the visual representation of our STUFF. I am a very visual person, 3D puzzles are my kind of thing, so trying to figure out how to pack up everything into as few boxes as possible, still keeping it somewhat organized and then fitting all that into a trailer is a challenge I totally love. Leaving no open spaces in the boxes and the trailer or car is the ultimate goal. Good thing this time we are just moving across town, so only the box part applies and I don’t have to take the trailer packing to the next level (not sure I could do any better than when we moved here...) The other thing moving does to me is show me where our priorities are when it comes to STUFF. Almost a quarter of our moving boxes are filled with my baking and kitchen treasures, a quarter with Rob’s fishing and ski gear (not including the boat!) another quarter with our plants and books, the rest is all those other random things like a bed and office stuff. The kitchen is always the hardest one to pack and I always worry about my plates and bowls breaking during transport. Many of my dishes were my grandma’s, others have special memories attached to them, like one bowl my dad bought me when I was going to college and we had a little father daughter trip to the Bay area… others come from a potter at Mono Lake who doesn't make things anymore… I don’t like being so attached to material things but having these special plates, mugs and bowls in my life sure brings a smile to my face every time we sit down to eat, or I have my first cup of coffee for the day… Do you have a special mug you like to drink you coffee from?
